The Government Online Skills Tool and Project Delivery Capability Framework provide the profession with invaluable tools to help manage their careers working in some of the biggest and most complex projects and programmes in the world.

2020 is the National Year of Inclusion for the Civil Service and the role of staff networks for supporting colleagues has become even more apparent during the pandemic. Both the Civil Service LGBT+ Network and Project Delivery Profession are here to support Civil Servants and provide a voice for their members across Government.
Whilst successful project initiation can take more time at the start, this will be repaid many times over later on in delivery.
We must get the basics of project delivery right. We can start this by adopting the eight principles for project success and keeping them at the forefront of everything we do.
During these ‘unprecedented times’, we need to think harder than ever about D&I. We need to uphold our values and principles, and we need to make an extra effort to ensure that no one is left behind.
As things get to a more even keel in the ‘new normal’ phase, this is our opportunity to bring thinking about diversity and inclusion more to the fore. Not instead of, but alongside our day to day work.
For International Women’s Day 2020 Nick Smallwood celebrates the achievements of women throughout the Civil Service as well as reflects on the need to do more to ensure diversity throughout the project delivery profession.
